Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce easily a billet having fine crystal structure by fixing a closing plate bored with plural pieces of holes into a nozzle and providing a stopper to open and close the top end of the nozzle.
CONSTITUTION: The operation for opening the stopper 9 by a cylinder 10 for a prescribed period then closing immediately the stopper 9 for the prescribed period by the cylinder 10 is repeatedly executed. The molten metal 4 in a tundish 5 drops in the form of plural pieces of molten metal drops 12 from the nozzle 6 through the plural holes 7 of the closing plate 8 into a casting mold 11 by gravity. The billet having the fine crystal structure is thus produced.
