To produce an alkali metal dispersion containing minute alkali metal particles having uniform particle size by industrially dispersing an alkali metal simply in an inactive solvent in high efficiency.
The method for producing the alkali metal dispersion comprises the steps of: using a dispersion tank 1 having an agitator which is fit to a driving shaft 20 and has an agitation blade 21; adding the molten alkali metal to the inactive solvent having the boiling point higher than the melting point of the alkali metal in the dispersion tank 1; and rotating the agitation blade 21. The agitation blade 21 is characterized in that a plurality of upward and downward shearing teeth 23 are arranged alternately on the outer periphery of a disk. Shearing force is exerted on the alkali metal in the inactive solvent by the edge surface 23a, which is arranged along the circle concentric with the center of the rotation of the agitation blade and positioned in the rotational direction of the agitation blade, of each of shearing teeth 23 to disperse the alkali metal.
