To provide a producing apparatus having a means for forming many types of metallic base material into a lotus root-shaped porous metal excellent in the workability and the formability having a precise pore shape by controlling the pore direction, size and porosity thereof.
This apparatus is provided with a heating chamber casing 1 for heating the metallic material in a crucible 4 to the saturation temp. to melt the material under saturation pressure by using a pressurizing device to introduce a prescribed gas or mixed gas from an inlet pipe 10, and a cooling chamber casing 2 for controlling solidification pressure during solidifying by introducing the metallic material containing the gas into a mold 31, introducing a gas from a gas inlet pipe 23 and using a cooling water flow-in pipe 29 and a cooling water flow-out pipe 30 under a prescribed gas pressure at a prescribed temp. to cool the metallic material. For continuous formation, a temp.-holding and solidification-adjusting chamber for holding and adjusting the gas dissolved metallic material is arranged in the intermediate process between the heating chamber and the continuous cooling chamber.
