To provide a reduced iron producing apparatus having small setting area and good profitability by constituting the inner part of a reducing furnace with many steps.
Rotary furnace hearths (grates) 22-24 in the reducing furnace are constituted by dividing into three steps and piling. Treating material 10 composed of iron ore powder containing coal is charged from a charging hole 21 at the upper step and carried to the lower step through ducts 31, 32 by rotating while heating at each step, and the reduced material 10 is taken out from the lower step with an ejector 8. High temp. gas from a combustion burner 3 arranged at the lower step is used to heating and reducing action of the treating material 10 and this high temp. exhaust gas is introduced to the upper step so as to utilize to heating at each step.
