Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for production of a liquid crystal display element including a photosensitive material with which high-accuracy pattering of a mixture by photoirradiation is possible and further to provide a liquid crystal display element which is greatly improved in display grade.
CONSTITUTION: The rays emitted from an illumination means 2 are subjected to modulation control of the light intensity distribution by a photomask 1 and the rays subjected to the modulation control are magnified or reduced by a projecting lens system 3 and are imaged to the surface to be exposed of the liquid crystal panel 10 on a stage 4 in this apparatus 31 for production. The projecting lens system 3 is selected at a size at which the light from the entire area of the photomask 1 is received and the light from the illumination means 2 is efficiently transmitted to the surface to be exposed. A lens, etc., subjected to correction of aberrations, etc., are used for the projecting lens system 3. The liquid crystal panel 10, etc., formed by encapsulating the mixture layer 16 contg. the photosensitive material which makes photopolynm. reaction by irradiation with UV rays in a pair of glass substrates 21, 22 are arranged on the stage 4. The projecting lens 3 is so adjusted that the light from the projecting lens system 3 forms the image on the mixture layer 16 between the glass substrates 21 and 22.
