Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the number of apparatuses by executing surface-quenching to long works having different quenching lengths with a single quenching apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: An induction coil 30 supported by a first lead 40 and a second lead 50 has a contact 34 at the one end part. The first lead 40 supports the induction coil 30 in the longitudinal direction so as to be freely shiftable and has a contact 44 at the upper end. The induction coil 30 and the first lead 40 are electrically insulated. The second lead 50 is adjoined to the first lead 40 and directly holds the induction coil 30. The induction coil 30 is faced to the lower surface of the long work W held with the contacts 34, 44 and this lower surface is heated by direct conduction of the current and the induction current. Distance between the contacts 34, 44 can be changed according to the quenching length of the work W.
