To provide a recovering apparatus capable of efficiently recovering the contents after polymerization containing unreacted monomer and improving total production efficiency including production efficiency of vinyl chloride-base polymer and a method for recovering the monomer by using the apparatus.
This apparatus has (a) a vinyl chloride polymerization reaction tank 1, (b) a transfer pipe 2 for transferring the contents from the reacting tank, (c) a blow down tank 3 for storing the contents transferred through the transfer pipe, having a volume which is 1-3 times larger than that of the reacting tank and ≤1kg/cm2 allowable pressure or below, (d) a vent pipe 4 provided in the outlet of the tank, (e) pressure-controlling means for controlling the flow rate in the transfer pipe of blow down inlet so that the pressure in the tank becomes the allowable pressure or below and (f) a gas holder 5 for storing a gas containing unreacted monomer moving through the vent pipe 4. In the apparatus, the inner diameter of the vent pipe 4 is larger than the inner diameter of the transfer pipe 2.
