To provide an apparatus wherein chips can be smoothly and efficiently attracted, peeled off and delivered at a low cost by a light-weighted structure in the apparatus for recovering magnetic metal on a material surface by attraction with a magnetic roll.
A round bar magnet having radially a magnetizing direction is arranged coaxially in a fixed nonmagnetic external cylinder, and lines of magnetic force going in and out from adjacent different magnetic poles are moved around magnetic metal chips, iron powder, rust, or the like, on a material surface by rotatively driving the round bar magnet. Thereby, attraction of the magnetic metal chips on the material surface is made easy, and the attracted chips, or the like, are transported along a peripheral direction of the nonmagnetic external cylinder. For the chips on a high temperature material, a cooling medium is forced to be circulated between the round bar magnet and the nonmagnetic external cylinder to cool both, thereby, enabling to treat the chips. Further, by constituting a spiral guide groove or guide wall on a surface of the nonmagnetic external cylinder, the chips are enabled to be conveyed in the axial direction of the round bar magnet.
