The apparatus for regenerating the filter medium for the chemical filter is characterized in that the filter medium having an ion derived from an acidic substance, a basic substance and their salts (collectively called by the name of polar substances hereinafter) as a counter ion is arranged between an anode and a cathode, an electric current is made to flow between the anode and the cathode, a water-soluble ion is supplied and the ion derived from polar substances is moved, an ion exchange group of the filter medium is converted into a free group and the ion derived from polar substances is collected in an updatable ion concentration part arranged near the electrode to which the ion derived from polar substances is moved.
