PURPOSE: To carry out removal of a particulate efficiently by a method wherein a nonconductive porous body is filled in an oil passage between an anode plate and a cathode plate and DC high voltage is applied between both electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: An anode plate 1 protruded in a comb like form and a cathode plate 3 are mutually arranged in parallel so as to provide a predetermined space therebetween and the anode plate 1 is covered by a filter paper 12 and, between the cathode 3 and the opposed anode plate 1, a glass mat 13 is filled as the porous body. An engine oil is sent into an apparatus from an inflow pipe 3 through a pore 21 of a bottom plate 2 and passed through a communication pore of the glass mat 13 and flowed out from an outlflow pipe 7 through a pore 41 of a top plate 4. In this time, DC high voltage is applied between the anode plate 1 and the cathode plate 3. An electrostatic field is formed in the apparatus and the particulate in the engine oil passing the glass mat 13 is attracted to a direction of the anode plte 1 and adhered to the filter paper 12 covering the anode plate 1. Thereby, the engine oil is purified.
