To provide an apparatus and a method for roll-forming a teeth-profile with which the deterioration of a teeth-profile roller can exactly be checked.
In the apparatus for roll-forming the teeth-profile, performing the rolling-formation by pushing the teeth-profile roller 21 against a rotating work W, this apparatus is provided with a variation-pattern analyzing means, with which an acceleration sensor 11 is fitted to a roller holder 23 for supporting the teeth-profile roller 21 and the vibration frequency-sound pressure strength characteristic is analyzed with a controller 10, based on the detecting signal of the acceleration sensor 11, and a deterioration judging means with which the deterioration generated to the teeth-profile roller 21 is judged according to this vibration frequency-sound pressure strength characteristic.
