Title:
PREHEATING/MELTING APPARATUS FOR SCRAP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3143771
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To ensure high efficiency of preheating/melting of scrap by providing a rotary furnace on a furnace bottom side of a shaft furnace to transfer scrap discharged iron the shaft furnace in the rotary shaft, and then throwing the scrap into a scrap melting furnace.
CONSTITUTION: Scrap filled in a shaft furnace 1 is preheated by introducing gas produced from a scrap melting furnace 2 into the shaft furnace 1 through a rotary kiln or continuously. A pusher 4 is preferably provided underneath the shaft furnace 1 at need. The pusher 4 is used for preventing the scrap from residing in the rotary furnace because it smoothly discharges the scrap from the shaft furnace 1 to the rotary furnace. The use of a shaft type furnace for the preheating apparatus is because it provides a highest preheating furnace ratio. The provision of the rotary furnace between the shaft furnace 1 and the melting furnace 2 is because shaft furnace lower temperature is restricted to be lower to raise preheating temperature by securing a combustion space for gas produced in the scrap melting furnace 2.
