To surely treat bilges (sewage) containing a solid such as fine sand and mutt and an emulsion.
An oil component is roughly separated from the bilges by a gravity separation. An oil/water separator A is provided with a primary treating device 1 removing fine suspended matters such as sand and mutt by sand filtration, and a secondary treating device 10 separating and removing oil component remaining in the bilges treated in the primary treating device 1. The primary treating device 1 is directly connected with the secondary treating device 10 by an advection pipe 8. The primary treating device 1 is provided with an oil discharge part 5a at the upper side of an oil/water inlet 2, and a sand filtering layer 3 at the lower side. A plurality of sand filtering layers 3 are constituted of sand different in a particle size and a specific gravity. The secondary treating device 10 is provided with an oil/water inlet 37 installed at an upper chamber part 28 and an oil discharge part at 12a at the upper part of the chamber part, a coalescer 19, communicating to the upper chamber part, installed at a lower chamber part 29 and an oil discharge part 33 at the upper part of the chamber part.
