A noncontact sensor RS for detecting presence of a walking animal by forming a partial vertical detection area at a part where the body part of a walking animal passes, a swing gate SG supported swingingly about the longitudinal axis while being urged to be reset to an attitude intersecting the passage, and means PS for detecting the swinging position of the gate SG are disposed at specified positions on the passage P for passing walking animals in a row in a walking position specifying apparatus for walking animal. The walking position specifying apparatus further comprises means for making a decision that a walking animal is passing when the noncontact sensor RS detects the presence of a walking animal and the position detecting means PS detecting the gate SG swinging over a set position on the open side. The walking position specifying apparatus are installed at the inlet and outlet of a weighing table thus constituting a weighing apparatus for walking animal.
