The article storage apparatus 10 is composed of a base material 11, the Japanese paper 2 applied on the upper surface of the base material 11, a plurality of lacquer layers 3-5 formed on the upper surface of the Japanese paper 2. The Japanese paper 2 contains fibers 2a, the fibers 2a forms a plurality of recesses 2b and protrusions 2c on the surface, and at least part of the recesses 2b and the protrusions 2c of the plurality of recesses 2b and protrusions 2c have the top surfaces of the plurality of lacquer layers formed on the upper surfaces of the recesses and the protrusions, which are different from each other.
