PURPOSE: To enhance purifying capacity by subjecting the waste water to purification treatment in an aeration tank in which a fiber lump formed by aearting short fibers with a fiber length of 5W50mm in water is present as a medium for adhering microorganism to enhance contact efficiency with the waste water.
CONSTITUTION: Short fibers with a fiber length of 5W50mm are thrown into the aeration tank 1 in which the waste water or speed sludge is introduced and air is blown thereinto from an air diffusing pipe 4 to carry out preliminary aeration to form fiber lumps and activated sludge is adhered thereto to form fiber lumps (f). Into the aeration tank 1 in which said fiber lumps (f) are present, while the waste water is continuously introduced from a waste water inflow pipe 3, air is continuously injected into the tank 1 from the air diffusing pipe 4. In this manner, in the waste water, a revolving stream is generated to the direction shown by an arrow W by air lift action due to rising air bubbles and the fiber lumps (f) are floated and fluidized to continuously subjected the waste water in the aeration tank 1 to aeration treatment.
