Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the titled apparatus for the preparation of a resin- embedded slice of biotissue, and capable of polymerizing a resin at a low temperature to enable the storage of a cell in a state similar to the living cell, by providing a UV lamp as a ultraviolet source, and placing a heater to the outer circumference of the lamp to ensure the operation at a low temperature.

CONSTITUTION: The low-temperature polymerization and curing of a resin with ultraviolet radiation is carried out by the use of the apparatus described below. A cylinder 2 placed in the main body 1 of the apparatus is furnished with the suction port 21 and the exhaustion port 22 connected to the outer atmosphere, and a fan 3 is attached to the exhaustion port 22. The cylinder 2 has a double- wall structure consisting of the outer cylinder 23 and the inner cylinder 24, and quartz tubes 5, 7 are inserted into the gap 25 between the side walls of the cylinder 2. A UV lamp 4 is inserted as an ultraviolet source into the quartz tube 5, and a heater 8 is placed to the outer circumference of the tube 5. A slice of biotissue 70 and a resin 76 are put into the small container 71 in the quartz tube 7, and the slice is embedded in the resin 76, which is polymerized and curved by ultraviolet radiation.
