PURPOSE: To provide the subject aqueous adhesive comprising an aqueous solution of a polymer having sodium carboxylate salt groups and having a specific pH, a chloroprene latex, etc., reduced in the generation of mists, having a high thixotropic index and a high viscosity and capable of being easily coated.

CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 pts.wt. (as solid content) of the aqueous solution of a polymer having sodium carboxylate groups and having a pH of ≥7.0 (e.g. the aqueous solution of sodium polyacrylate) is compounded with (B) 0.2-10 pts.wt. (as solid content) of one kind or more of a chloroprene latex, a styrene- butadiene rubber (SBR) latex, an acrylic emulsion, etc., and subsequently, furthermore with a tackifier such as a rosin ester, zinc white, an antiaging agent, ammonia water, etc., to obtain the objective aqueous adhesive used for spray- coating, having a high viscosity, a stringiness, giving coarse particles extruded from a spray gum, reduced in the generation of mists, having a high thixotropic index, and thereby capable of being easily coated even in high viscosities.
