To provide an aqueous binder dispersion capable of forming a coating film having an improved coated film hardness and optical characteristics and without having the defects of prior art technologies.
The aqueous binder dispersion comprises at least one copolymer having a carboxylic acid and/or a carboxylate group, in which the copolymer has a structural unit of a (meth)acrylic acid ester having an alicyclic structure without having carboxy and at least 25 mol% of carboxylic acid group of the copolymer in the dispersion is neutralized with triethanolamine, and the number-average molecular weight is 500-30,000, the OH content of the copolymer in 100% form is 3.5-7.5 mass%, and the acid number of the copolymer (P) in 100% form is 15-40 mg KOH/g.
