Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject dispersant excellent in weather resistance, warm water resistance, miscibility with pigment, durability and coating film forming property and useful as a paint, etc., by subjecting a prescribed amount of a specific monomer to emulsion-polymerization in the presence of a vinylidene fluoride-based polymer particle in an aqueous medium.
CONSTITUTION: The objective dispersant is obtained by subjecting (B) 10-900 pts.wt. monomer consisting of (i) 10-99.9wt.% (meth)acrylic acid alkyl ester of a 1-18C alkyl group, (ii) 0.1-59wt.% (meth)acrylic acid ester of the formula [R1 is H or methyl; R2 is an alkyl or an aryl; R3 is a 2-4C alkylene; (n) is 1-35], (iii) 0-30wt.% ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid (e.g. acrylic acid) and (iv) 0-89.9wt.% other monomer copolymerizable with these components (i) to (iii) in the presence of (A) 100 pts.wt. vinylidene fluoride-based polymer particles in an aqueous medium.
