Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the aqueous dispersion being free from urea groups, containing ionic groups, having a specified number-average molecular weight and a specified acid value, having resistance to hydrolysis and excellent storage stability, and being useful for e.g. a primer in a multilayer lacquer coat.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided the objective aqueous dispersion obtained by reacting (A) an isocyanate-reactive compound comprising 70-100 wt.% at least either of a polyester diol and a polyether diol each of which has a molecular weight of 500-6,000, etc., and having an acid value of 0-10 with (B) a free- isocyanate-containing compound having an anion or an anion-forming group and an organic diisocyanate in an organic solvent to form a polyurethane polymer having an OH value of 5-75 and a number-average molecular weight (Mn) of 5,000-50,000 and chain-extending the polyurethane polymer with (C) polyfunctional isocyanate having a free NCO functionality of 1.8 in such a ratio as to give the final product having an Mn of 10,000-300,000 and an acid value of 5-50.
