PURPOSE: An aqueous dispersion containing cellulose derivative exhibiting improved stability in the case of being blended with a water-soluble organic solvent etc., forming a film with improved water resistance, adherability, etc., comprising a specific hydrophilic polymer as a dispersion stabilizer.
CONSTITUTION: In an aqeuous dispersion obtained by polymerizing a mixture of a cellulose derivative, a radically polymerizable unsaturated monomer capable of dissolving the derivative, and water, under radical polymerization conditions, a hydrophilic reaction product of a water-soluble high polymer substance having a functional group(hydroxyl group, amino group, etc.) in the molecule and a water- insoluble high polymer substance having a reactive group(epoxy group, carboxyl group, etc.) reacting the functional group to form a bond undissociating in water, exhibiting compatibility with an oily substance, as a dispersion stabilizer is added to the dispersion. A reaction product of polymers having close SP values, or a reaction product of copolymers having similar compositions is preferable as the hydrophilic reaction product.
