The present invention provides an aqueous pigment dispersion liquid in which a pigment is finely dispersed; and this aqueous pigment dispersion liquid is not susceptible to change of the viscosity and change of the pigment particle diameters, while having excellent storage stability, and is capable of preparing an emulsion polymerized toner that has adequately controlled particle diameters, while improving the yield of the pigment. The present invention is an aqueous pigment dispersion liquid for emulsion polymerized toners, which contains a pigment, a dispersant and an aqueous medium. The dispersant is a polymer that contains a constituent unit (A) that is derived from a monomer (A) wherein a group containing a (meth)acryloyloxy group or the like is bonded to one end of a specific polyethylene glycol chain or the like, and a constituent unit (B) that is derived from a monomer (B) having a carboxy group or the like; the number average molecular weight of the polymer in terms of polystyrene as determined by gel permeation chromatography is from 4,000 to 15,000; the polymer is contained in a substantially non-ionized state, while having a pH of from 3.0 to 8.4.
