Abstract:
To provide a method for directly preparing a copolymer as an aqueous dispersion.
The aqueous dispersion is prepared by polymerizing an olefinic unsaturated water-insoluble compound in the presence of an alkyl or vinyl ether, more concretely, by mixing the olefinic unsaturated water-insoluble compound with the water-soluble allyl or vinyl ether represented by the formula in water and initiating the polymerization using a radical initiator (wherein (b) is 0 or 1; (n) is 0 or 1; (k) is an integer of 1 to 20; X is O or N[(AO)m-R]; A is a 2C to 4C alkylene; (m) is an integer of 5 to 900; and R is H or a 1C to 4C alkyl, provided that A is exclusively not a 3C or 4C alkylene).
