To obtain a captioned emulsion wherein a specific type of compound is added thereto by an aqueous microemulsion radical polymerization process so as to satisfactorily stabilize a dispersion distribution and permit little foam formation to be promoted and which is useful as a binder or the like.
An intended emulsion is obtained by polymerizing a monomer having at least one monoethylenical unsaturation bond group according to an aqueous microemulsion radical polymerization process by use of at least one compound represented by formula I, or its salt, [wherein R1 represents an acyloxy group of a carboxylic acid selected from the group consisting of a 8-26C saturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid, a 8-26C mono- (multi)unsaturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid and a 8-26C aliphatic monocarboxylic acid obtained from the corresponding carboxylic acid by partial or full hydroxylation of the unsaturated functional group thereof; R2 and R3 independently represent a group of formula II (wherein m is 1 to 50), OSO3H, OPO2H2, or acyloxy: R1, and a group of formula III (wherein Z is represented by formula IV or the like)] wherein the content of a dispersed polymer is ≥10 vol.% relative to the aqueous polymer emulsion.
