To obtain an aqueous resin composition excellent in finishing properties such as a high thick feeling and a high luster and further capable of forming a coated film excellent in weather resistance, water-proof property, alkali resistance, and the like, and to provide an aqueous coating material composition containing the same.
The aqueous resin composition is characterized in that it comprises (I) a fatty acid-modified acrylic resin composed of a copolymer of (a) 0.5-40 wt.% of a dry oil fatty acid and/or semi-dry oil fatty acid, (b) 0.5-20 wt.% of an epoxy group-containing polymerizable unsaturated monomer, (c) 0.5-25 wt.% of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having at least one group selected from the group consisting of a sulfonic acid group, a sulfonate group, a phosphoric acid group and a phosphonate group, (d) 10-60 wt.% of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having not less than 4C alkyl groups, and (e) 0-88.5 wt.% of the other polymerizable unsaturated monomer, and (II) an aqueous medium, and in that (I) is finely dispersed in (II).
