Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject diimide shown in a prescribed formula. having suppressed reactivity, improved in shelf stability and ready handleability as a cross-linking agent for aqueous resin.
CONSTITUTION: This diimide of the formula ((n) is 1-30 average degree of polymerization; R1 is a residue of an organic compound containing a hydriphilic segment and at least one functional group reactive with an isocyanate group; X is a group formed by reaction between the isocyanate group and the functional group). In the production, for example, isocyanate end tetramethylxylylene carbodiimide is synthesized by condensation reaction accompanying removal of carbon dioxide of tetramethylxylylene diisocyanate and further the diimide is reacted with a hydrophilic segment compound to give the objective compound.
