PURPOSE: The titled inhibitor, containing a specific 1,4-benzoquinone derivative containing a novel compound, and useful as a carcinostatic agent, tissue metabolism activator, hypotensive agent and remedy for cardiac insufficiency, etc.
CONSTITUTION: An arachidonic acid 5-Ripoxygenase inhibitor containing a 1,4- benzoquinone derivative selected from a compound, expressed by formula I [A is CH=CH, CH2-CH2, formula II or CH(OH)-CH(OH); R1 is H or CH3, provided that A is CH=CH or formula II when R1 is CH3], a compound, expressed by formula III (l+m=14), and having 128W132°C melting point, a compound expressed by formula IV, a compound expressed by formula V, a compound expressed by formula VI (R2 and R3 are H or CH3, except when R2 is H and R3 is CH3), a compound expressed by formula VII (n is 9 when R4 is H; n is 7 or 9 when R4 is OH), etc. The above-mentioned 1,4-benzoquinone derivative is used in 0.005W10mg, preferably 0.1W1mg dose range per day for 1kg body weight.
