Abstract:
To provide a production method of arachidonic acid containing oils substantially free of eicosapentaenoic acid, and to provide compositions containing oils comprising high concentration arachidonic acid in triglyceride form.
Mortierella alpina of filamentous fungus is cultivated by using conditions which yield a triglyceride oil containing particularly much arachidonic acid, the biomass is harvested, and the oil is extracted, recovered and used as an additive for infant formula.
