In this arc melting furnace of a cold iron source comprising a melting chamber for melting the cold iron source, a preheating shaft directly connected to an upper part at one side, of the melting chamber for preheating the cold iron source, an arc electrode 7 for melting the cold iron source in the melting chamber, a spray nozzle 18 for spraying the cooling water to the arm electrode 7 for cooling the arc electrode 7, a tapping part mounted in the melting chamber in a projected state and having a tapping port, and a tilting means for tilting the melting chamber to a tapping part side, the spray nozzle 18 is composed of semi-circular arc-shaped spray nozzles 18A, 18B, the spray nozzles 18 are mounted in opposition to each other through the arc electrode 7 along the tilting direction of the arc electrode 7, and the water spraying amount from each of the spray nozzles 18 is adjusted on the basis of an tilting angle of the arc electrode 7.
