Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an area monitoring sensor capable of checking an operation state without approaching a risk source.SOLUTION: An area monitoring sensor 10 which detects an intruding object in a monitoring area and generates a stop signal for stopping the operation of an external apparatus comprises: a measuring unit 120 including a light projection portion which generates detection light, a scanning portion which makes the detection light scan in a circumferential direction about an axis of rotation, a light-receiving portion which receives detection light reflected by the object and generates the detection signal, and a distance calculating portion for obtaining a distance to a target object on the basis of the detection signal; a display unit 110 which has a screen display portion for displaying the operation state of the measuring unit 120; and a wiring cable 5 which detachably connects the measuring unit 120 and the display unit 110, and supplies electric power between the measuring unit 120 and the display unit 110.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
