To eliminate arithmetic operation time variation due to the value of a dividend by expressing a carrier period in the binary number of the prescribed number of bits at the time of carrier setting of a controller and calculating the use of bit shift and the change of the digit of a RAM by arithmetic.
At the time of carrier setting of a remote controller, 1/3 is approximated with 85/256 and 1/3 time of the carrier period is calculated by using an expression ((x+4)+16(x+4x))/256. Thus, by expressing the carrier period (x) by the binary number, the value of 85/256 is calculated in a short time without repeating processing through the use of bit shift and the change of the digit of the RAM to be used for arithmetic. In addition, since the variation of the number of repeating times depending on the value of the period (x) is eliminated, arithmetic time variation is also eliminated. Consequently, it is possible to use at the controller at a place where a software processing time is defined.
