Abstract:
PURPOSE: To calculate residue arithmetic operation of an integral number of a large digit with a small circuit scale at a high speed and to implement ciphering and decoding for ciphering communication through the use of the arithmetic unit.
CONSTITUTION: An arithmetic unit calculating a residue resulting from dividing a product between given integers A, B by a prescribed integer N is provided with an input means in which plural arithmetic operation sections of pipeline configuration are provided and each of the plural arithmetic operation sections receives an output from a relevant host arithmetic operation section, a multiplier means receiving part of the integral number A divided for each prescribed bit and multiplying the inputted part with the integral number B, a residue arithmetic operation means adding an input from the input means and an input from the multiplier means and obtaining a residue with respect to the integral number N as to a part of the integral number N in excess of its maximum digit in a storage means, and an output means outputting the result of the arithmetic operation of the residue arithmetic operation means to a subsequent arithmetic operation section.
