To provide an arm assembly for an office chair wherein a user can adjust the armrest to obtain comfort.
This arm assembly 24 provided on a chair 12 has a forward direction and a rearward direction. Each arm assembly 24 comprises an armrest 26 and a supporting structure 28. An attaching device attaches the armrest to the supporting structure in a manner to be movable. The attaching device 30 constrains the movement of the armrest 26 relative to the supporting structure to a movement in a substantially horizontal plane having two degrees of freedom defined by a first and second axes crossing in the lateral direction, lying in the substantially horizontal plane. Thus, the armrest 26 moves under a substantially planar configuration without changing the orientation of the armrest 26.
