Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new aromatic phosphoric ester compound containing no halogen, capable of providing a synthetic resin with high flame retardance with a small amount of the compound added, slightly causing deterioration in appearance resulting from bleedout.
SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (R1 is H, a 1-6C alkyl, a 5-12C cycloalkyl or a 7-20C aralkyl); R2a, R3a, R2b and R3b are each a 1-4C alkyl; R4a, R5a, R4b and R5b are each H or a 1-4C alkyl). The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a diphenylphosphoric acid halide of formula II (X is a halogen) with an aromatic diol of formula III in a solvent in the presence of a Lewis acid or a metal simple substance catalyst. Preferably the compound of formula I is added to a thermoplastic resin such as a polycarbonate resin, a polyphenylene ether, etc., to preferably prepare a flame-retardant resin composition of V-0 or V-1 level.
