Abstract:

To provide an aromatic polycarbonate having excellent hue while keeping the molding characteristics.

The aromatic polycarbonate having a viscosity-average molecular weight of ≥16,000 is produced by the transesterification reaction of a carbonic acid diester and an aromatic dihydroxy compound. The ratio of the total molar number of the branched structure units to 1 mole of the basic structure units is >0.40 and ≤0.8 mol% and the value (swell ratio) calculated by dividing the cross-section area of a strand extruded by a melt-index measurement at 280°C by applying 11 kg load on a molten resin by the cross-section area of an orifice is ≥1.2 and ≤4.0. The invention further provides an aromatic polycarbonate composition, a hollow vessel produced by using the composition and an extrusion molded article of the composition.
