Abstract:

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject carbonate useful for electric materials, etc., having stability to electrophilic reagent and excellent thermal stability in high yield by subjecting a specific dioxole and a specific tetraol to polycondensation. CONSTITUTION:(A) A benzo[1,2-d:4,5-d']bis([2,2]dihalogeno[1,3]dioxole) or a benzo[1,2-d:3,4-d']bis([2,2]dihalogeno[1,3]dioxole and (B) a tetraol of formula I [Ar<2> is a group of formula II (X is carbonyl, methylethylidene, S, SO2 or single bond), etc.]] are subjected to polycondensation at 40-150 deg.C to give the objective carbonate having a repeating unit of formula III (Ar<2> is group of formula IV, etc.) and 10% weight loss temperature in nitrogen of 390-450 deg.C.
