PURPOSE: To suit the carrier directional pattern of a single wide aperture antenna to an ILS localizer by determining the current distribution ratio between the central part and the nth element on the basis of a sine function.
CONSTITUTION: The same directional pattern can be realized in an array antenna independently of the number of elements, an odd or even number. The directional pattern of an array antenna is defined as EN. Since the number of elements of the array antenna is finite, a new directional pattern ENm is obtained by adjusting a function EN by the mean value method. Said function ENm has small side lobe and small beam variation width. The current distribution is found by converting a function (f), a main beam, by Fourier conversion and weighting the converted function on the basis of a sine function. Consequently an array antenna device suitable for a localizer having an effective courve structure can be realized under airport conditions easy to generate radio wave troubles.
