To provide an array type proximity sensor that can measure a distance to an object having a material of a surface, or a shape or posture affecting a tilt of a measurement portion unknown.SOLUTION: An array type proximity sensor 100 comprises: a substrate part 3; a plurality of light reception elements 21; a plurality of light emitting elements 11 to 14; and a synchronization detector circuit. The light reception element is arranged in a form of a line on the substrate part with intervals allowing for arranging two or more light emitting elements between the light reception elements, in which the light reception element receives external light and is configured to allow for generation of a photocurrent. The light emitting element is arranged between the light reception element and the light reception element positioned next in a line-form arrangement two by two, in which the light emitting element is configured to allow for emitting light using a mutually orthogonal first modulation signal and second modulation signal. The synchronization detector circuit is configured to allow for detection of a phase of a specific component of the photocurrent one light reception element outputs, in which the specific component is irradiated from total four light emitting elements arranged two by two on either side with respect to the one light reception element, and the phase is represented with a function of the distance to an object.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
