To miniaturize an article alignment device by miniaturizing a relay device to become a relay part 2 in the article alignment device transferring one or a plurality of articles carried in the relay part from a carrier conveyer 1 on a discharge conveyer 8 by a transfer device at preset prescribed intervals.
The transfer device is a transfer crane 3 entirely holding the article carried in the relay part 2 by responding to the output of a control device, and directly transferring it on the discharge conveyer 8 in its holding state. This device is provided with an arithmetic unit computing a transfer path and a transfer speed for transferring succeeding articles 90d, 90e, and 90f from the relay part 2 to a target position Z on the discharge conveyer by the preset interval rearward of the preceding articles 90a, 90b, and 90c and the control device outputs the control signal to the transfer crane 3 by responding to the output of the arithmetic unit.
