Abstract:
PURPOSE: To give a user smoking feel and effects without burning a cigarette by using a carbonaceous fuel member having a specific amount of the carbon content, with the length shorter than specified provided with channels lengthwise inside. CONSTITUTION: An artificial cigarette is composed of a short combustible carbonic fuel member 10, an aerosol generating means 12 put adjacent and a foil lined paper tube 14 forming a mouthpiece 15. The fuel member 10 made from a carbonized wood is equipped with, for example, five channels 16 extending lengthwise inside. The aerosol generating means 12 is provided with a heat stabilized heat transferable carbon supporter 30 such as a perforated carbon plug, further impregnated with aerosol forming substances. The length of the combustible fuel member 10 is specified shorter than 30mm to sufficiently supply the fuel during the time that a user smokes it 7 to 10 puffs. The carbon content of the fuel member 10 is specified at least around 80wt.% or more as the fuel of high carbon content would result in a minimum heat decomposition and minimum incomplete combustion products allowing higher heat capacity not to generate a visible side-stream of ashes, leaving a minimum quantity of ashes.
