To solve the problems of being high cost and being difficult in maintenance, due to being complicated since there is the necessity of constituting each article carrier as a belt conveyor, in a conventional device for ejecting an article by rotating a belt.
A method for sorting articles by individually placing articles onto the article-conveying members of a conveyor configured by linking a plurality of article-conveying members in an endless manner, conveying the articles, and ejecting the articles into given sorting ports provided along the conveyance path of the article-conveying members on the basis of sorting information for each individual article, wherein each article is placed so as to extend over a pair of article-supporting implements positioned at the front and back in the conveyance direction and is conveyed, and an article placed so as to extend over a pair of supporting implements is ejected, while being conveyed substantially horizontally, by rotationally driving both supporting implements so that the implements open relative to each other within a substantially horizontal plane at the location of a given sorting port.
