To provide an article stacking device having a large degree of flexibility in setting of the number of stacking and capable of preventing articles from being damaged.
This article stacking device 1 comprises a delivery conveyor 10 capable of separately driving a first group of buckets 11a with a first driving system 12a and a second group of buckets 11b with a second driving system 12b. An article loading device loads each one piece of article 2 into the buckets 11a and 11b. During the time when the article loading device is loading the article 2 into the bucket of any one of the first group and the second group, a transferring device 40 picks up the article 2 from other group of buckets which is already loaded with the article, and stacks into the second group of bucket 51b. A control device controls the first driving system 12a and the second driving system 12b so that loading of the articles 2 by the article loading device and pick-up of the articles 2 by the transferring device 40 can be smoothly performed.
