PURPOSE: To obtain the artificial crown whose color tone is similar to a natural tooth, and which is stable in a mouth extending over a long period, satisfactory in dimension accuracy, and high in mechanical strength by forming a milky glass layer formed by casting a glass molten liquid on the outside surface of a core having a cap shape.
CONSTITUTION: In an artificial crown 1, a milky glass layer 3 formed by casting a glass molten liquid is formed on the outside surface of a core 4 having a cap shape. As for the milky glass layer 3, its color tone is similar to that of a natural tooth, and also, being different from an artificial crown consisting of a dental ceramic material, it is formed by casting, therefore, it is excellent in dimension accuracy, and especially, when Na2O--Al2O3-SiO2 compound milky glass is used, this crown is excellent in stability in a mouth extending over a long period, therefore, it is desirable. As for a state of this milky glass, that which is made milky by adding ceramic powder to a glass molten liquid and suspending it, and that which is made milky by phase-splitting or devitrifying molten glass in a cooling process exist.
