This artificial flower is characterized by having flower pedals and/or leaves which are produced from an artificial flower material comprising a Kimono sash cloth backed with a thin cloth. This method for producing the artificial flower is characterized by comprising a process for bonding the thin cloth to the back side of the Kimono sash cloth to make the artificial flower material and a process for making the flower pedals and/or leaves from the artificial flower material. The thin cloth to be backed to the backside of the Kimono sash cloth is preferably a thin pure silk cloth. Before the thin cloth is bonded to the back side of the Kimono sash cloth in the method for producing the artificial flower, it is preferable that fibers floated on the back side of the Kimono sash cloth are preliminarily removed, when the fibers are floated.
