This artificial nail has an opaque crescent-shaped lunula on the near edge of the artificial nail, an opaque nail tip 12 at the far edge on the opposite side of the lunula, a virtually clear nail base 11 between the lunula and the nail tip, and a splitting line 13 between the nail base and the nail top. The nail base virtually corresponds to a natural nail base and can be applied on the natural nail. A nail chip includes a continuous opaque decoration which covers a natural nail tip 22 when the artificial nail is applied on the natural nail. Because the nail base is virtually clear and transparent, the natural nail base can be seen through it.
