To produce a wet feeling which natural turf has after rain or scattered water by retaining a material having a water-absorptivity and water sustained release property in at least one of a base fabric part, a pile part, or a packing part.
A material having a water-absorptivity and water sustained release property is retained in at least one of a base fabric part, a pile part, or a packing part. The material may be a polymeric water absorbent such as acrylic soda, and further, it may be a highly water-absorbing fiber absorbing water two times or more as much as the own weight, a water-retaining fiber obtained by an after-processed hydrophilic treatment, a basically hydrophilic fiber, etc. The ratio of the material having the water absorptivity and water delayed release property to the total weight of artificial turf (e.g. that of a golf practice field) is preferably 0.01-10 wt.%. In this way, the polymeric water- absorbent or a fibrous water-absorbing body can absorb water several hundred times or more as much as the own weight. Accordingly, the turf can retain water in a state close to natural turf even after scattered water or rain and water can gradually be released.
