Title:
ARTIFICIAL VECTOR-MATRIX ARITHMETIC METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03282434
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain neuron outputs which are unnecessary for the motion of an image in an input surface by performing correlative arithmetic between a 1st two-dimensional matrix pattern and a 2nd two-dimensional matrix pattern by employing optical Fourier transformation and using respective correlation outputs obtained by the correlative arithmetic as outputs of an output neuron. CONSTITUTION:Light transmitted through a spatial optical modulator 1 has its complex amplitude distribution pattern on the modulator 1 processed optically by Fourier transformation and is made incident on a spatial optical modulator 3. On the other hand, N<2> input neurons are written in a spatial optical modulator 4 as a matrix pattern of N rows by N columns and when a Jander Lugt type correlation filter is irradiated with the transmitted light through a Fourier transforming lens 5, the spatial optical modulator 3 projects diffracted light on the spatial optical modulator 1 and Fourier transforming lens 2 and the light is converged by a Fourier transforming lens 6 to obtain a correlation pattern on a screen 7, so that a two-dimensional photoelectric converting element detects the pattern in the form of an electric signal. Consequently, the output of the output neuron does not vary.
