PURPOSE: To provide 4,5-dihydro-1H-2,4-aryl-fused diazepines useful in the treatment of cardiac dysrhythmia, in particular cardiac dysrythmia of patients of ventricular dysfunction or stagnant heart disorder.
CONSTITUTION: A compound of the formula [wherein ring A represents phenyl, thienyl, phranyl, naphthyl, pyridinyl or cyclohexyl which may be substituted; R1 represents hydroigen, alkyl, benzyl, naphthyl, thienyl, pyridinyl or substitutable phenyl; R2 represents CH2CH2R7 (wherein R7 represents pyridinyl); R3 represents Yp-(CH)m-Xn-R8 (wherein Y represents NH, O, S or the like; X represents S, O, SO2, CO, CH=CH, C≡C or the like; R8 represents H, alkyl, phenyl or the like; (p) and (n) are each 0 or 1; m is 0 to 7); R4 represents H, alkyl, allyl, acetyl or the like; R5 represents H, alkyl, naphthyl, thienyl, substitutable phenyl, benzyl or the like], for example 4,5-dihydro-3-[(4-methan- sulfonamidephenoxy)methyl]-4-(4-pyridinylethyl)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-1H-2,4- benzodiazepine.
