PURPOSE: To provide a herbicide which contains a novel aryloxycarbonyl compd. and is particularly suitable for controlling monocot weeds growing in monocot crops and dicotyly crops.
CONSTITUTION: This compd. is expressed by formula I [(m), (n) are 0, 1; Ar is aryl, heteroaryl; Q is heteroarylene; A is O, S, methylene; X1, X2 are each H, halogen, alkyl, halogenoalkyl, alkoxy, halogenoalkoxy; R1, R2 are each H, alkyl, halogenoalkyl; E is ethylene or vinylene which may be occasionally substd.; Y is a group of carboxylic acid or carboxylic acid deriv.]; for example, 2-[4-[5-(2-chlorophenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl-oxy]-phenoxy]-propionic acid (R)-ethyl. The compd. is obtd. by bringing the aryl compd. of formula II (X3 is a nucleofugal leaving group) into reaction with the hydroxy- or mercaptoaryloxycarbonyl compd. or formula III (A1 is O, S).
